Lamp Camp: the hardware

Posted on 19:25 by kumar
A word on lamp technique: if you find a lamp harp, like the one pictured here, in the thrift store for 99 cents as I did, scoop it up as they're hard to find and from my experience not readily available in dollar stores or even some hardware stores.

Lamp harps of various sizes are your friends because they allow you to play musical shades with your various lamps even if the lamp bases are different sizes and proportions.

My only tip for shade swapping is you want to try to maintain a sense of proportion.

You could go long and thin ...

Or short and fat ....

TIPS: Really tall lamps like this one tend to ruin the line of other items in the room if placed on a regular-height dresser or console. That's why I tend to place it on a low table even when I change its look around.

More on lamp hardware tomorrow, along with some little lamp embellishment tips & pics.
